John C. Miller

John Miller founded the St Clair Consortium in 2003, a management consulting company dedicated to product development leadership.

Miller is a seasoned executive with more than 35 years experience in leadership positions over diverse, large and complex organizations in the automobile industry, management consulting, higher education and not-for-profit. His leadership experience and acumen include a strong track record of transformational initiatives and building high performance teams leading to higher achievement, innovations in products and processes, and the mentoring of future leaders.

A product development leader at Chrysler for 25 years, he was vice president of the Large Car Platform Team during the 1990s, leading the team in the development of numerous automobiles that received many industry awards including the J.D. Power and Associates IQS best-in-class awards for initial quality, the first ever for Chrysler Corporation.

Currently, Miller is also the director of Michigan State University’s Executive MBA program and has been teaching graduate level courses in product development and innovation there and the University of Detroit Mercy since 2001. He is currently an advisory board member of the Lean Learning Institute at Oakland University, the Broad Executive Forum at Michigan State University and the Strategy Research Institute, a not for profit organization dedicated to the research and implementation of best practices in product creation systems. Miller is also a trustee and Vice Chairman at the Detroit Science Center.

Miller holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University and an MBA from Michigan State University.

Michael F. Donoughe
Senior Partner

Mike Donoughe joined the St Clair Consortium as a Senior Partner in 2009. He is an executive with more than 28 years experience in industry at U.S. Steel, Chrysler, DaimlerChrysler’s Mercedes Car Group, and Tesla Motors.

At Tesla, he was executive vice president for vehicle engineering and manufacturing, supply chain and quality, leading Tesla in achieving quality, throughput and profitability objectives for the Tesla Roadster, the first highway capable all-electric car in the world.

At Chrysler, Donoughe served as vice president of multiple product teams, leading them in the creation of numerous vehicles including the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, the 2005 Dodge and Chrysler minivans with the industry-first Stow ‘n Go™ seating system, the 2007 Jeep® Wrangler, and the 2009 Dodge Ram with industry-first rear suspension and Ram Box™ storage systems. Additionally, he chaired a CEO-sponsored People Development Advisory Group which was focused on talent elevation through acquisition, retention and development.

While at Mercedes from 1999 to 2002, Donoughe served as chief engineer for the Mercedes-Benz R-Class.

In addition to his professional activities, Donoughe is co-founder and president of the Cornerstone Youth Development Fund, a non-profit organization focused on advancing the education of domestic and international youth in Detroit, Michigan and Uganda.

Donoughe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Toledo, a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Wayne State University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
